Kakadu

Kakadu is an awesome place, I would love to visit closer to the end of the wet to see all the waterfalls and creeks at their best. Good thing about this time of year though, is the relative lack of tourists. even so, because all the main roads are sealed there were heaps of camper vans, Wicked, Maui, 'Fritz in Britz' etc.
We camped at a managed campground on a billabong called Mardagul where there was heaps of wildlife.

We visited twin falls and Jim Jim Falls. these are accessed by a 4wd track, a deepish river crossing, a rocky hike and a short boat trip. Well worth it though. The hike was tough going with the temperature close to 40c, but a very enjoyable way to build up a thirst!

After Jim Jim we visited Nourlangie Rock, the site of some of the oldest aboriginal rock art. Another longish hike took us through some stunning scenery, and as we climbed higher the temperature dropped slightly.

We stayed 3 nights in Kakadu and instead of leaving by the main road, we found a little used 4wd track that was in pretty good shape that led us north through the park, past a series of beautiful billabongs up to the Arnem Hwy at South Alligator river.

Another really beautiful area/spot - just how many more can there be up there? Seems endless.
Speaking from experience, we can say theres nothing quite like Romney Marsh in Kent at this time of year!!!
Nice to see you've given the cruiser a 'wash and brush up' - it really is BLUE is'nt it?
Keep goin' and enjoy Broome - superb sunset on Cable Beach - and a cracking little fish and chip shop.

Hi Nick and Jo,
Looks great, especially that cheeky artwork. Good to see some foot trekking as well I guess by bushwalking you have found beautiful pockets of bush that most people would not see. Enjoy Alice Springs and the warm weather, love mel, wet angie, preggers Evie and little prince poodie (your boys are at work today)
